About the Custom Mode
The high print quality and the high speed printing of this printer are designed to be most
stabilized when genuine toner cartridges are used. Using the consumables whose
specifications differ from genuine consumables may cause degradation of printer
performance. Also, repairs that result from using consumables that are not recommended
may not be covered by warranty. When using recommended consumables, you can receive
full support in case the printer needs repairs.
It is recommended to use genuine toner cartridges to get the proper printer performance.
If you use consumables whose specifications differ from genuine consumables for any
reason, follow the procedure below to set the custom mode.
Note
• When the custom mode is selected, [Custom Toner] is displayed on the control panel.
• When returning the setting to the normal mode, select [Off] in step 3 below.

Press the < > button and the <Eject/Set> button simultaneously.

Make sure that [##Custom Mode] is displayed, then press the < > button or the
<Eject/Set> button.

Make sure that [Custom Toner] is displayed, then press the < > or <Eject/Set>
button.
4.
Press < > button to select [On], then press the <Eject/Set> button.
5.
Press the <Menu> button.
Replacing the Drum Cartridge
This section describes procedures for handling, storing and replacing the drum cartridge.
Caution on Handling the Drum Cartridge
When handling the drum cartridge, take note of the following points:
WARNING
• Never throw a drum cartridge into an open flame. It can cause an explosion and you can
get burnt.
• Do not subject it to direct sunlight or strong light.
• Do not touch the drum surface (blue part). Make sure that nothing touches or scratches
the drum surface.
• To avoid to degradation of printing image quality, keep the drum cartridge level.
