CONTROL SYSTEM
ADJUSTING THE SHIFT CONTROL
CABLE (F8CW)
1. Check:
Shift control cable

Damage
Incorrect shift handle position/poor
shifting
2. Adjust:
Shift control cable

Adjusting steps:
(1)Set the shift handle 1 to the neutral
position
(2)Loosen the locknut 2 and remove the
clip and the cable end 3 from the shift
control cable 4.
(3)Set the remote control lever to the
neutral position.
(4)Turn the cable end 3 so it aligns with
the pin on the shift handle 1.
Then, reinstall the cable end 3 onto
the shift handle 1.
WARNING
The cable end should be screwed in more
than 8 mm (0.31 in).
(5)Install the clip and tighten locknut 2.
(6)Move the remote control lever to the
forward, neutral, and reverse positions
and make sure it shifts smoothly and
correctly.
If the shifting operations unsmooth or
incorrect, repeat the above procedure.
NOTE:
If the shift lever cannot be set to the

reverse position, rotate the propeller
slightly then operate again.
If the shift control cable cannot be

properly adjusted at the engine side,
make adjustment at the remote control
lever side.

Adjust.
