Starting recording
with 6 seconds of
prestored audio data
— Time Machine Recording
When recording from an FM or satellite
broadcast, the first few seconds of material
are often lost due to the time it takes you to
ascertain the contents and press the record
button. To prevent the loss of this material,
the Time Machine Recording feature
constantly stores the most recent audio data
in a buffer memory. This lets you record the
sound from 6 seconds before starting
recording, as shown in the illustration below:

To stop Time Machine Recording

Press p on the MD deck.

Insert a recordable MD (MDs), then
press DISC SKIP on the MD deck
(MD D.SKIP on the remote) so the
MD 1 to 3 button of the slot
containing the recordable MD lights
green.
You can record on any of the MDs in
MD 1 to 3.
Press FUNCTION >/. on the
amplifier repeatedly to select the
sound source (e.g., "TUNER") you
want to record.
Press REC 1 to 3 for the slot number
containing the recordable MD.
The MD deck stands by for recording.
Start playing the source to be
recorded.
The most recent 6 seconds of audio data
is stored in the buffer memory.
When recording an analog input
signal, adjust the recording level
(see page 51).
Press ENTER/YES on the MD deck
at the point you want to start
recording.
Recording of the source starts with the
6 seconds of audio data stored in the
buffer memory.
If the MD has been partially recorded,
recording starts from the last recorded
portion.
