Cause and countermeasure
The disc is not inserted properly.
m Press § and pull out the disc.
The disc is upside-down or facing the wrong direction.
m Insert the disc with the arrow side up in the direction of the arrow.
• The MD is dirty or damaged.
• "Disc Error" appears in the display.
m Replace the MD with a new one.
The disc is dirty (e.g., oil film, fingerprints) or scratched.
m Replace the disc.
Nothing is recorded on the disc.
m Replace the disc with a recorded one.
Moisture condensation has built up on the lens inside the MD deck or on the disc.
m Insert the disc and leave the system turned on for a few hours until the
moisture evaporates.
The MD deck is not set to play mode.
m Press FUNCTION >/. on the amplifier to switch the function to MD, then
press ·∏ on the MD deck (or MD · on the remote) to start play.
The disc is dirty (e.g., oil film, fingerprints) or scratched.
m Replace the disc.
The system is subject to vibration.
m Try moving the system to a place without vibration (e.g., on top of a stable
stand).
m Try moving the speakers away from the system, or placing them on separate
stands.
When you listen to a track with bass sounds at high volume, the speaker
vibration may cause the sound to skip.
The inside of the system and the disc are different temperatures.
m Insert the disc and wait for 10 to 20 minutes with the system turned on.
The deck is in Program or Shuffle Play mode.
m Press CONTINUE to return to normal play.
You have reached the end of the disc while pressing ).
m Keep pressing 0 or turn SELECTOR to return to the desired playback
position.
You pulled out the power cord without ejecting the MD after recording or editing
an MD.
m MD recording and editing contents are written to the MD when the MD is
ejected, so make sure you eject the MD after recording or editing (see pages 18,
24, 38 and 56).
The MD is protected against erasure ("Protected" appears).
m Eject the disc and slide the tab to close the slot (see page 39).
An optional AV component is not connected properly.
m Connect the optional AV component properly (see page 80).
