7.4.2 Valve clearance – Check and adjustment
Preconditions
☑ Engine is stopped and starting disabled.
☑ Engine coolant temperature is max. 40 °C.
☑ Valves are closed.
Special tools, Material, Spare parts
Designation / Use
Feeler gauge
Torque wrench, 60-320 Nm
Socket wrench, 24 mm
Engine oil
Preparatory steps
1. Remove cylinder head cover (→ Page 97).
2. Install barring device (→ Page 84).
Note: The OT mark (if fitted) on the flywheel must
not be used for reference.
3. Rotate crankshaft with barring device in
engine direction of rotation until "OT-A1"
mark and pointer are aligned.
