6.4.1 Valve clearance – Check and adjustment
Preconditions
• Engine is stopped and starting disabled.
• Engine coolant temperature is max. 40 °C.
• Valves are closed.
Special tools
Designation / Use
Feeler gauge
Torque wrench 20-100 Nm
Ratchet adapter
Preparatory steps
1. Remove cylinder-head cover (→ Page 100).
2. Using the barring tool, bar engine manually in
engine direction of rotation (→ Page 89) until
cylinders are at TDC.
