Speaker Configuration

The surround back channels' power amplifier can
drive the surround back speakers, the ROOM 2

you should assign the power amplifier correctly. For
details, see "Connecting Speakers" on page 21 and
"Connecting Room 2 and Room 3 Outs" on page 24.

Speaker Crossover

Set the crossover frequency according to the
frequency characteristics of the speakers connected.
For details on the frequency characteristics, refer to
the operating instructions of the speakers.
You can select the crossover frequency among
Full Range, 40 Hz, 60 Hz, 80 Hz, 100 Hz, 120 Hz,
150 Hz, and 200 Hz. The default setting is 80 Hz.
Select "Full Range" when the selected speaker
can fully reproduce the low frequencies below 40
Hz.
Note
• You cannot select the subwoofer and the speakers set
to "NO".
• If the frequency range of your speaker is 100 Hz~20
kHz, the crossover frequency should be set to 100 Hz
or slightly higher. For details, refer to the operating
instructions of the speakers to be connected.
• The low frequencies below the crossover frequency
are to output from subwoofer or the speakers which
are set to "Full Range" (when not using a subwoofer).
Description

Speaker Distance

Select the desired unit (Meter or Feet) before
setting the speaker distance. Once a unit is
selected, the distances are automatically changed
in the selected unit.
You can set the distance within the range of 0.1
~ 9.0 meters in 0.1 meter intervals (or 0.5 ~ 30.0
feet in 0.5 foot intervals).
Note
About the speaker distance
• When enjoying multi-channel surround playback with
Dolby Digital and DTS sources, etc., it is ideal that the
center, surround and surround back speakers, etc.
should be the same distance from the main listening
position as the front speakers. By entering the distance
between the listening position and each speaker, the
delay times of center, surround and surround back
speakers, etc. are automatically adjusted to create an
ideal listening environment virtually as if the center,
surround and surround back speakers, etc. were at
their ideal locations respectively.

Channel Level

You can adjust the current channel levels as desired.
These adjusted levels are just memorized into user's
memory ("Calibrate"), not into preset memory ("Save
1(Movie)", "Save 2(Music)").
The LFE level can be adjusted within the range
of -10 ~ 0 dB and other channel levels within the
range of -15 ~ +15 dB.
In general, we recommend the LFE level to be
adjusted to 0 dB. However, the recommended LFE
level for some early DTS software is -10 dB. If the
recommended levels seem too high, lower the
setting value as necessary.
Note
• Depending on the speaker settings ("NO", etc.), some
channels cannot be selected.
• After adjusting each channel level with test tone,
adjust the channel levels either according to the
program sources or to suit your tastes. For details, see
"Adjusting each channel level with test tone" on page
32.
