System Connections
Note (Continued)
• The audio signals from the HDMI connector (including the sampling frequency and bit length) may be limited by the
component that is connected.
• The video signals will not be output properly if the connected component is incompatible with HDCP.
• If the resolutions of the video signals which are output from the MONITOR OUTs and your monitor TV are not
matched, the picture is not clear, natural or displayed. In this case, change the setting of the resolution on either
this receiver or the source component (BD player, etc.) to one which the monitor TV can handle. For details, see
"Video Scaling" of "Setting the Input Setup" on page 62 or the operating instructions of the source component.
• When you want to enjoy only the picture on your TV, not the sound, you should set the HDMI AUDIO OUTPUT to
"SPEAKER" not to output the digital audio signal from the HDMI MONITOR OUT of this receiver. For details, see
"HDMI Audio Output" of "Setting the HDMI Setup" on page 63.
About video conversion
The receiver is equipped with a function that up-converts the video signals to the higher quality video
y
signals and outputs them from the MONITOR OUTs.
Depending on how to make video connections between this receiver and video components, you should
y
set the VIDEO MODE correctly to output the video signals from the connected MONITOR OUTs. For
details, see "Video Mode" of "Setting the Input Setup" on page 61.

Connecting Audio Components

Connect the cables to be used. Carefully check the left (L) and right (R) channels and the inputs and outputs, and
be sure to interconnect correctly.

Connecting AUX

COAX.
Select one of the audio connectors (HDMI IN, COAX. IN, or AUDIO IN), and connect the cables.
If you connect the DIGITAL INs to your components, it is easier to do so by following the default settings: OPT.
IN 1 : BD/BDR, OPT. IN 2 : DVD/DVR, COAX. IN 1 : AUX, COAX. IN 2 : CD. If your DIGITAL connections are
different from default settings, you should assign the DIGITAL INs using the "Digital Audio Assign" of "Setting
the Input Setup" on page 61.
For details on DIGITAL INs and OUT (OPT. and COAX.), see page 19.
