4. TROUBLESHOOTING

4.1 ERROR INDICATION

4.1.1 EQUIPMENT ERRORS

To display the most recent error code, use maintenance-mode function code 82
described in 5.2.3, "Detailed Description of Maintenance Mode". Following the
machine error, one of the error codes listed below will appear on the LCD.
If an equipment error occurs, the facsimile equipment emits an audible alarm
(continuous beeping) for approximately 4 seconds and shows the error message
on the LCD. For the error messages, see the "Error messages appearing on the
LCD" below. To display detailed error information, use maintenance-mode function
code 82. ( 5.2.3)

CAUSE
Paper is not the correct size.
The indicated tray is not
completely closed.
Poor phone line quality
caused a communication

You tried to poll a fax
machine that is not in polled
waiting mode.
The rear cover is not
completely closed.
The front cover is not
completely closed.
The center cover is not
completely closed.
Print data is left in the
machine's memory.
Print data is left in the
machine's memory. The
interface cable was
unplugged while the
computer was sending the
data to the machine.
The other person or other
person's fax machine
stopped the call.
The document was not
inserted or fed properly, or
the document scanned from
the ADF was too long.

ACTION
Load the correct size of paper (Letter,
Legal or A4), and then press "Black
Start" or "Color Start".
Close the indicated tray properly.
Send the fax again or connect the
machine to another telephone line.
If the problem continues, call the
telephone company and ask them to
check your phone line.
Check the other fax machine's polling
setup.
Close the rear cover of the machine.
Close the front cover of the machine.
Close the center cover of the
machine.
Re-start printing from your computer.
Press "Job Cancel". The machine will
cancel the job and clear it from the
memory. Try to print again.
Try to send or receive again.
Remove the jammed document
paper.
