The punch assembly includes up to five light-receiving transistors (photosensor
board) mounted over the inlet paper path of the Punch Unit. The same number of
LEDs are mounted under the path, as well. The front-most sensor (LED5, PT5)
detects the trailing edge of each sheet. The remaining four LEDs (LED1 through
LED4, PT1 through PT4) are horizontal registration sensors which detect the rear
position of sheets when punching holes.
Theory of Operation
Function
Detects the positions of the paper fold rollers and the paper
pushing plate.
Detects when paper is present in the Saddle Unit's bind tray.
Detects the leading edge of the paper stack.
