The outer bracket rail consists of two parts: a fixed outer rail that attaches to
the rack mounting bracket and an inner slide on a steel ball-bearing movement.
This inner slide does not detach. To identify the fronts of the rack mounting
bracket and the outer bracket rail, see the following two figures:

The front of the rack mounting bracket has alignment tabs on its flange
and the round threaded holes 1.

The front of the outer bracket rail allows the inner slide to move forward
on ball bearings 2 and can be identified by the plastic guides.
