ProSafe 20-AP Wireless Controller WC7520 Reference Manual
Provisioning the Wireless Controller
To provision the wireless controller in this network, perform the following tasks:
For initial discovery and configuration of the APs, temporarily configure management
1.
VLAN 100 as an untagged management VLAN on both the wireless controller and the
PoE switch.
Configure the basic system configuration:
2.
Configure the country code of operation (see
•
page 52).
Configure the IP address of wireless controller
•
page 53).
Configure the management VLAN as VLAN 100
•
on page 53).
Settings
Clear the Untagged Vlan check box. This changes the VLAN to a tagged VLAN (see
•
Configuring IP and VLAN Settings
Add a DHCP server that uses VLAN 100
•
Configure the IP address range for VLAN 100.
-
Configure the other DHCP server fields, including the gateway and DNS servers.
-
Configure the following profiles, and configure network authentication and data encryption
3.
for these profiles (see
A profile with SSID 1 and VLAN 10.
-
A profile with SSID 2 and VLAN 20.
-
Connect the wireless controller to the PoE switch.
4.
Before you connect the APs to the PoE switch, verify that the switch ports to which you
5.
intend to connect the APs are configured as access ports in management VLAN 100.
Deploy the APs and connect them to the designated PoE switch ports.
6.
Wait until the APs are up and running, run the Discovery Wizard, specify the network layout
7.
by selecting the Same L2 network radio button, and select the APs that you want to be
managed by the wireless controller (see
Management).
Add the APs to managed list, enabling them to receive an IP address from the DHCP server
8.
over management VLAN 100.
For each AP on the managed list, clear the Untagged Vlan check box and configure
9.
VLAN 100 as the management VLAN. Doing so causes the APs to lose connectivity with the
wireless controller.
Restore connectivity between the APs and the wireless controller by changing the PoE
10.
switch ports to which the APs are connected to tagged ports. (During the discovery
process, these switch ports were access ports in management VLAN 100.)
