5. After you finish the directory assignments, click Commit.
Changes to the directory require the affected phones to restart. To make your changes take
effect immediately, click Changes Pending then Restart Phone.
Adding Names to the Directory Before You Install the Phones
If there are names in the directory prior to connecting the phones to the Services Router, you
will be prompted to select a user name and directory number for each phone from the
directory displayed on the handshake phone. See illustration at the right.
Here's how to populate the phone directory prior to installing the phones:
1. Click User Directory in the Action Index window or on the Site tab.
2. In Edit mode, type names in the User Directory.
3. (Optional) Type a three-digit directory number for each name. You can use any
available extension in the range of 210 to 290. If you leave this blank, the system will
automatically pick a valid number for you.
4. If you do not want to include a directory number in the Auto Attendant directory, check
AA Listing Disabled for that directory number. You'll want to do this for directory
numbers that are assigned to a fax machine.
5. Click Commit.
6. Connect the phones to the Services Router. A list of the names you added will be
displayed on the phone screen for the handshake phone.

cannot forward calls to that directory
number until the user configures their
personal mailbox.
NOTE: Numbers 200 - 209 and 290-
299 are reserved numbers and cannot
be assigned to users.
