A phone does not power up.
Phones receive power in one of two ways:
• Power over Ethernet (PoE) from the Services Router—Verify that:
-
No hubs or switches are between the Services Router and the phone because
they will not provide PoE.
-
Cat5 or better wiring is used between the phone and Services Router.
-
The RJ-45 is plugged into the phone's 10/100SW port.
-
If the phone is plugged-in to a wall jack, unplug and connect the phone directly
to the Services Router in order to eliminate the wiring plant as a variable.
-
Try another phone in order to eliminate the first phone. If the new phone powers
up, RMA the first phone. Otherwise, RMA the Services Router.

Use an external power supply (pwr-cube-3) to eliminate the Services Router as a
variable. If the phone powers up with an external power supply, RMA the phone
due to faulty PoE.
• From an external power supply:
-
Ensure that the external power supply is plugged into a powered outlet.
-
Ensure that the external power supply's output plug is fully inserted into the
phone.
-
Try another external power supply from a working phone. If the phone powers
up, RMA the external power supply.
-
Connect the phone directly to the Services Router using a Cat5 or better cable to
the 10/100SW port on the phone.
The phone screens on my phones alternate between showing a question mark and a
handshake icon.
This means that the handshake process is still taking place. The handshake process can
be protracted due to high packet loss on the Internet connection. Simply wait; the system
