If the automatic-in-service feature is set to on, and the circuit pack state
automatically changes to in-service (IS), skip to step 19. If the circuit pack
state is out-of-service (OOS), proceed to step 18.
Change the state of the OC-12 circuit pack to in-service:
eq oc12 <group>↵
chgstate is↵

group number of the OC-12 that was replaced: g1 or g2
The state changes to in-service (IS).
Change the state of the OC-12 facility to in-service (IS):
fa oc12 <group>↵

For unidirectional protection switching, change the state of the OC-12 facility
to in-service at the far-end NE.
What type of protection activity was performed before the card was replaced?
If before replacing the OC-12
a manual protection switch was performed
no protection switch was performed
From the OC-12 facility screen, display the detailed protection screen:

From the detailed protection screen, release the protection switch:
manual re <group>↵

is the OC-12 group from which service was switched (in
step 2): g1 or g2.
When a protection switch is released, the screen displays a period ( . ) in the
manual column.
Replace the shelf cover.
