Chapter 4 • Installing mounts
62
1035678-0001 DRAFT Revision 1.04
In masonry wall installations, the antenna mount must be
installed such that the bottom lip of the reflector is at least 5 feet
(1 m) above ground, and no less that 3 feet 3 inches (1 m) from
any window or door in a building or adjacent structure.
Any type of masonry wall installation that attempts to make use
of a fence on three sides is not acceptable. This is because the
minimum distance from the back of the reflector to the fence
must be at least one antenna diameter. If it is assumed that the
wall is the "back" of the fence, the minimum distance can never
be achieved.
CAUTION
• The DIRECWAY-SP ANTENNA SYSTEM must be
installed in a location or manner not readily accessible
to children and in a manner that prevents human
exposure to potentially harmful levels of radiation.
• In any wall installation in Puerto Rico, the continental
United States, or at any site with greater than a 30°
elevation angle , the antenna must be mounted such
that the lower lip of the antenna reflector is at least 5
feet (1.5m) above any surface upon which a person
might be expected to stand, and 3 feet 3 inches (1m)
from any opening (such as a door or window) in a
building or adjacent structure.
• In any wall installation in Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, and
any site with less than a 30° elevation must be installed
such that the lower lip of the antenna reflector is at least
5 feet 9 inches (1.75m) above any surface upon which a
person might be expected to stand, and 3 feet 3 inches
(1m) from any opening (such as a door or window) in a
building or adjacent structure.
• The antenna must be mounted such that no object
which could reasonable be expected to support a
person is within 6 feet, 7 inches (2 meters) of the edges
of a cylinder extending from the antenna reflector.
• These types of wooden wall installs typically DO NOT
restrict access via an attached ladder.
• Ensure the tenants and owners of the building
understand they MUST detach the indoor unit (IDU)
power cord from the power source before approaching
the antenna closer than the prescribed distances.
• Glue or securely tape the Radiation Caution Hazard Sign
to the back of the antenna.
