Remote Access Software Version 5.3 Release Notes
300115-B Rev. A
44
If the switch type set via the WAN switch_type parameter
does not match any of the switch types in afd_list, no
firmware is downloaded. If the switch type does match an
entry in afd_list, AFD checks the entry's hardware type.
If the hardware type is "CAS T1.*" or "CAS E1.*" and the
firmware in the WAN module is "CAS T1.*" or "CAS E1.*",
the version is checked. If the version in afd_list does not
match the version in the module, the firmware is
downloaded .
If the hardware type is "CAS T1.*" and the firmware in the
module is "PRI T1 USA" or "PRI T1 CAS", the module is
tested to determine whether or not it can run CAS firmware,
and, if it can, the firmware is downloaded.
Similarly, if the hardware type is "CAS E1.*" and the
firmware in the module is "PRI E1.*", the module is tested
for running CAS, and, if CAS can be run, the firmware is
downloaded.
AFD does not accept an EXPLICIT command to force
download "csu_e1t1-1_38" if the ATVER string is "PRI E1".
This means that a T1 CAS module that has been accidentally
loaded with the wrong code (PRI E1) can not be recovered.
The command afd ct12 cas_e1t1-1_38 causes AFD to
download "pri_e1-1_23", because afd_list specifies this as
the proper code for a PRI E1 module.
If the hardware type is "CAS T1.*" or "CAS E1.*" and there
is no firmware in the module, the switch type is ignored, and
the firmware image downloaded is the one appropriate for
the first hardware type (CAS T1 or CAS E1) in afd_list that
matches the hardware type of the module. Subsequently,
AFD checks to see whether or not the module can run the
CAS image appropriate for the switch type. If so, the
firmware for that image is downloaded.
An empty module is rare and is usually the result
of an interrupted download.
