Cleaning the Drive

This section explains how to clean the drive.
The auto cleaning function and manual cleaning function are available as cleaning
functions. Both the auto cleaning function and manual cleaning function use the cleaning
cartridge in the cleaning cell.

1. If no cleaning cartridge is inserted into the cleaning cell, neither
the auto cleaning function nor manual cleaning function can be
used. Insert a cleaning cartridge from CAS into the cleaning cell
via operation from the operator panel.
For information about the operation using the operator panel, see
4.9.1, "Inserting a cleaning cartridge."
2. The maximum number of times that a cleaning cartridge can be
used is determined by each drive maker.
If the maximum number of times of a cleaning cartridge can be
used in the cleaning cell is reached, the Exchange Clean Tape icon
goes on in the icon area of the operator panel. If this icon is on,
eject the cleaning cartridge as it should not be used any more, and
replace it with a new one.
The cleaning cartridge can be ejected into CAS by performing an
operation from the operator panel.
