Facing Example –Standard Install
 This type of installation allows for the facing underlayment (such as HardieBacker® cement board
other non-combustible) to butt up to the drywall (see "Facing Requirements" for details). Non-
combustible facing (cultured stone, brick, etc.) is then placed over the cement board and drywall.
Facing Example – Extended (Slab Over) Install
 This type of installation allows for marble, granite, other natural stone slabs, or other non-combustible
material to be placed over the fireplace and surrounding drywall (see illustration below for details).
