and connector in such a way that the cable inlet (into the connector) is pointing downwards, to
minimize the risk of water intrusion.
Maintenance of the connector consists of visual inspection of the connector and the seals. It is for
instance possible that the rubber tube (pos. 3 in Figure 18) loses its pre-tension over time, which
can be compensated by tightening the end bell (pos. 1 in Figure 18).

E
X D CABLE ENTRY SYSTEM
The cable entry system forms an important part of the Ex d protection method of the
ATEX zone 1 certified CIMSmart and it is therefore very important to use the correct cable
gland and cable combination. The choice and installation of a suitable cable + cable gland
should be made according to DIN-EN-IEC 60079-14:2014 and / or the requirements for the actual
installation site.
Only suitably approved Ex d cable glands should be used, which maintain the ingress protection
class (IP68). Only the G½" threaded connection (according DIN3852-2) of the CIMSmart housing
can be used to mount the cable gland.
The cable should be suitable for the type of gland and correspond with the requirements as given
in Section 4.2.1. Note that with cables which are not completely filled (like the one as given in
Section 4.2.1), a barrier gland is required. The cable gland and the cable have to be suitable for
max. operation temperature of 80°C.
For installation and maintenance instructions for the Ex d cable gland, please refer to the
documentation of the gland manufacturer.
