2.2. P
RECAUTIONS
The CIMS system can be used under most environmental conditions, see Chapter 6. Please
consult the manufacturer in case of:
Excessive magnetic or electrical fields.
Severe accelerations or shocks.
Excessive temperatures.

Warning!
The CIMSmart system is not designed for exposure to X-rays, nuclear radiation or high vacuum
environments. Use generally accepted industry standards for installation of precision
instrumentation. Pay attention to electrical shielding and grounding. Suppressors may be required
on inductive loads (such as solenoids and contactors).
Stray magnetic fields have an effect on the measurement behavior of the sensor element.
Permissible stray magnetic field at sensor element with opposing field in all directions: without
operation <=100kA/m, number and duration of occurrences unlimited.
If the electronics or cables are installed in an exposed location, use screens or other guarding as
appropriate, to prevent physical damage.
Failure to comply with following instructions can cause damage or malfunction of sensor:
-
To ensure the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) the instructions must be strictly followed.
-
The CIMSmart must never be disconnected while under power.
-
Customer equipment and CIMSmart must be at the same ground potential.
-
The operator must ensure that the voltage of 32 VDC is not exceeded.
-
The printed circuit board (PCB) or any electronic component must never be touched.
2.3. ATEX
CERTIFIED
Besides the non-ATEX-approved CIMSmart, there also is an ATEX-approved CIMSmart
ATEX Manufacturer:
Exepd GmbH
i_Park Tauberfranken 23
D-97922 Lauda-Königshofen
Germany
F037 300 069 (2015.09.02)
Never operate the sensors that do not bear the ATEX mark in explosive
atmospheres.
The standard CIMSmart is not intended for use in hazardous areas.
The CIMSmart ATEX version may be used in hazardous areas, but only
in the ATEX area as specified on the rating plate.
Due to the weight of the sensor, dropping may cause, besides damage
to the product, injuries. When the sensor is taken out of the transport
box it has to be handled with care.
