NECTION ICON. Once the type of connection is decided and selected, click the left mouse button on an input
or Boolean operator output connection stud. Move the mouse and click the left button on the connection stud of
an output or the input of a Boolean operator.
If all the inputs are connected to logic gates and/or output contacts, you are ready to compile the logic.

13.4.4 COMPILING AND DOWNLOADING XPRESSION BUILDER LOGIC
Once the logic has been created you are ready to compile. Under the File header, select Compile. If you are
connected to the relay at the time you can download the logic to the relay by selecting the Download com-
mand under the File header. After you compile the logic, under the File header, select Save_As and give the
file a name with a .BIN extension. The BIN file is a binary formatted file which is downloaded to the relay. A
user should also save the logic with an .EXP extension. The EXP file saves the graphical layout of the logic.
When both formats are saved, the logic uploaded from the relay can be matched to the graphical layout saved
for the configurable logic file (Note: when Xpression Builder is launched, it prompts the user for the location of
the EXP file; if the EXP file was not created, select Cancel and Xpression Builder will give the relay logic a
graphical layout which is logically correct, but may have a poor layout).
13.4.5 BREAKER FAILURE EXAMPLE
Figure 13–17: SAMPLE BREAKER FAILURE LOGIC is an example of a simple breaker failure scheme which
can be implemented in the relay using Xpression Builder logic. Use the description in the previous sections to
select the external contact input to block pilot tripping (BPLTRIP), the external configurable input (CNFDI1), the
internal block supervision current flag (IB), the Boolean operators (OR, AND, and P/D Timer), and the output
contact (A1).
