Configuring the Twinax Client Workstation IP and Station Address
Important:
Before you begin, complete the worksheet available in
"Configuration Data Worksheet" on page 168.
To communicate with the 5500 Control Unit for the first time, you must first
either configure a Twinax PC Client or a Twinax Network Station client.
This section describes how to configure the following:
• Twinax client
• Controller ID assignment
• LAN Adapter(s)
• WAN connections through async or IDSN modem
• TCP/IP address for each of the twinax clients workstations in your
network
• The 5500 Express IP Control Unit
Refer to the 5250 Express Hardware User's Manual (S88H-0277) for
installing and configuring the adapter in your PC. This manual is available
from: http://www.networking.ibm.com/525xpres/525xpress.html
After installing the adapter card and before you configure the client
workstation IP and station address, install the IBM 5250 Express TCP/IP
software. Refer to Appendix C.
To configure the twinax client workstation IP and station address:
1. From the Windows 95, 98 or NT control panel, select the Network icon
to open the Network folder. The following window appears:
