Shutting Down

Used for troubleshooting and support, this selection displays the following
functions:
Create Recovery File
Allows you to put configuration files on the Utility Diskette for
recovery situations.
Ping Clients
Allows you to check client connections by entering the IP address of
the client.
Show Internal IP (Internet protocol) Configuration
Displays your current internet protocol configuration settings.
Reboot IBM 5500
Allows you to shutdown and restart the 5500. This selection does
NOT reconfigure your system.
Firmware Level
Displays the current level of firmware in your 5500 Control Unit.
This information is helpful when contacting service personnel.
IBM 5500 Code Maintenance
Provides support for updating the firmware on your 5500 Control
Unit
Network Station Utilities
Provides the following network station functions:
• Erase bookmarks for Network Station Navigator
• Update Network Station Files on IBM 5500
• View Log file from last Network Station level update
• Restore Network Station kernel backup files
Most operating conditions of your 5500 Control Unit will not warrant
shutdown. However, to shutdown the unit follow the steps below:
Step 1: Press the Start/Stop button and release it when both the Test LED and
Ready LED lights are on solid. After some time both LEDs will go off. The
system speaker will beep every 5 seconds to signal that shutdown is complete.
Step 2: Remove the power from the system by removing the power cord
from the electrical outlet.
In some circumstances, you may not be able to use the normal process above.
If both LEDs will not light, your request for shutdown by pressing the Start/
Stop button is not recognized. Remove the power from the system by
removing the power cord from the electrical outlet.
