Chapter 7: Switch operations

This section describes some of the routine tasks you perform to operate the Avaya Ethernet Routing
Switch 8800/8600.

Powering on DC power supplies

Power on the direct current (DC) power supplies to provide power to the switch.
Procedure steps
1. On each DC power supply, turn the power switch to the on position.
Installation — Chassis
If your chassis contains two or three power supplies, turn on the power supplies
simultaneously. If you wait longer to turn on the second power supply, one of the
power supplies can shut off within 7 seconds. To correct this condition, turn off the
power supplies for a short period of time, and then turn on the power supplies again
simultaneously.
It is not necessary to remove the bezel to turn the power switch on. Do not operate
the 8010co chassis with only one power supply. For information about the power
