12. Exterior Lighting
12.1 General
The exterior lighting system provides four operating modes:
Runway/Taxiway Illumination
Landing and/or taxi lights (if installed)
Recognition Lighting
Steady state and intermittent flashing of the taxi/recognition lights (if installed)
Position Lighting
Red and green position lights located on the left and right wingtips and a
white aft facing tail light located on the trailing edge of the horizontal stabilizer
fairing
Anti-Collision Lighting
Strobes on each wingtip and in the tail cone
Several of the aircraft lights utilize Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). Each of these lights
contains several strings of individual LEDs. This ensures that should one light or
string of lights fail, the rest remain illuminated.
