10. Note the orientation of the new backplane. Ensure that the small hooks
the corresponding holes in the new backplane. Then, carefully press the new backplane straight down
so that it is secured by the latches

11. Reinstall all the hot-swap hard disk drives and dummy trays (if any) on the backplane. See "Installing or
replacing a hot-swap hard disk drive" on page 109.
12. Refer to your note to reconnect the cables to the backplane.
13. If you are instructed to return the old hot-swap hard-disk-drive backplane, follow all packaging
instructions and use any packaging materials that are supplied to you for shipping.

Notes:
• The easy-swap-drive module is sensitive to ESD. Ensure that you read and understand "Handling
static-sensitive devices" on page 56 first and carefully perform the operation.

To replace the easy-swap-drive module, do the following:
1. Remove all external media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the server. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to
the server.
2. Prepare your server. See "Removing or extending the server from the rack cabinet" on page 57.
3. Remove the server cover. See "Removing the server cover" on page 57.
4. Remove the cooling shroud. See "Removing and reinstalling the cooling shroud" on page 60.
