Installing S6x00 Hardware

CMS-6000 Media Server DC Power

The CMS-6000 has two internal power input feeds for 1+1 redundancy. To use redundant power
sources, connect power cables to both the A power terminal and the B power terminal. To use a
single source, connect to either A or B.

The DC return lines are not adjacent, and cannot be tied together with a jumper

on the power input terminal block. You must run separate returns for each power
feed.

CAUTION:
When tightening the nuts on the power input terminals, never use more than 30

inch-lbs of torque. Torque greater than this may cause power terminal bolts to
break off.
The choice of which power supply leads connect to which terminals depends on the way that
your power supply is set up. This procedure assumes that the black wire is ground (0 VR) and
the red wire is – (–48 VDC). If your power supply is set up differently, make sure you connect
the leads so that the voltage differential across the terminals is 48 VDC.
