Bake Element Components – Removal & Replacement
(Small Oven)
This procedure is for the small oven of 48-inch ranges.
Bake element components are accessible from the front of the range.
Be sure to check QuickFinder for relevant information, documentation,
and correct part numbers when replacing any of these components.
Sharp Components
Wear gloves when handling bake element components, as they may
have sharp edges
1. Follow all safety precautions and steps in Preparing the Range for
Servicing, page 21.
2. Remove oven doors (see Oven Door Removal, Installation,
page 77).
3. Remove all the oven racks.
4. Remove the kick panel (see Figure 171 and Kick Panel Removal
and Replacement, page 94).
5. Using a flashlight, and wearing gloves, reach through the gap
under the oven, and detach the two wire connectors behind the
bake element tray (see Figure 171 and Figure 172, page 86).
NOTE: The wire connectors may be a bit tight to remove.

6. Remove and retain the two screws on the bottom cover that
secure it to the bake element tray, and then remove the bottom
cover (see Figure 177.and Figure 178).

7. Remove and retain the two screws securing the element onto the
bake element tray, and then remove the element (see Figure 179).

8. Replace the element if needed.
