2.5 Obtain MMSI ( Maritime
Mobile Service Identity) n umber
Before commencing installation ensure you have
obtained a MMSI n umber f or y our v essel.
A MMSI i s a 9 digit n umber w hich is sent o ver a radio
frequency channel i n order t o identify the originating
vessel/station. If y our v essel a lready has a MMSI n umber
(used for a VHF DSC radio) t hen the same MMSI n umber
must b e used to program your p roduct.
Note:
If a MMSI n umber is not e ntered, t he DSC functionality
of y our r adio will b e disabled.
In the United S
tates of A merica, t he MMSI a nd Static
Data must b e entered only by a Raymarine® dealer
or o ther a ppropriately qualified installer o f m arine
communications equipment o n board vessels.
The user i s NOT authorized to do this.
In some areas, a radio operator l icence is required
before a MMSI n umber w ill b e issued. Y ou can request
a MMSI n umber f rom same agency that i ssues radio or
Ship Radio licences in your a rea.
In Europe and other p arts of t he world outside of t he
United States of A merica, t he MMSI a nd Static data can
be set u p by the user.

You can only enter a MMSI n umber o nce, i f
you enter t he number i ncorrectly or n eed
to change your M MSI n umber, the unit w ill
require re-programming by an authorized
dealer.

2.6 A utomatic Transmitter
Identification System (ATIS)
Y our p roduct i ncludes ATIS functionality for u se on the
inland waterways of c ontracting governments of t he
"Regional A rrangement o n the Radiocommunication
Service for I nland Waterways"
— also known as
"RAINWAT"
.
ATIS adds data at t he end of r adio transmissions that
identifies your s tation. ATIS operation can be turned on
or o ff a s needed via the radio's menu.
An ATIS ID can be obtained from the same agency that
issues radio operator l icenses in your a rea.
Y our A TIS ID should be programed into your p roduct
using the instructions provided.
Note:
Contracting RAINW AT countries include: Austria,
Belgium, B ulgaria, C roatia, t he Czech Republic,
France, G ermany, Hungary, Luxembourg, M oldova,
Montenegro, t he Netherlands, P oland, R omania,
Serbia, t he Slovak Republic and Switzerland.
Note:
When A TIS is enabled, c ertain programing steps
have been implemented to protect t he integrity of
the RAINWAT agreement, i ncluding the blocking of
DSC functions when ATIS is enabled.
