5.3 Homescreen overview

The information below describes the on-screen
characters and symbols which the radio displays on the
main screen and what t hey mean.
1. Status bar — The status bar d isplays symbols which
indicate the current s tatus of t he unit.
2. Frequency band — Indicates which channel
frequency band is in use:
• USA — United States of A merica
• INT — International
• CAN — Canada
• WX — Weather
Note: Special l icensing is required to receive
USA and Canadian channel s ets.
3. Status text — Indicates the current r adio mode e.g.:
ATIS Mode active, W eather A lert, S can mode etc.
4. Channel s uffix
• a — Indicates that t he current U S or C anadian
channel is simplex. This channel uses the
transmit f requency of t he International c hannel f or
transmitting and receiving. If a channel i s simplex
in all 3 frequency bands (e.g. channel 0 6, t he
channel d oes not r equire the
• b — Indicates that t he channel i s a receive only
channel. Used for C anadian channels only.

5. Channel — Indicates the current c hannel n umber.
6. Location / T ime
Depending on selection displays Location
coordinates and current t ime or L ocation
coordinates and current C OG and SOG.
7. Channel N ame — Indicates the name of t he current
channel.
8. Channel t ype — Indicates the type of c hannel:
• s = Simplex — Simplex channels transmit a nd
receive on the same frequency.
• d = Duplex — Duplex channels use separate
frequencies to transmit a nd receive.
9. Optional t ext — Provides extra user g uidance.
