The following table describes each of the .SCI and .CHL files maintained by
your System Configuration Utility.
System Configuration History Log Files
Filename Description
SYSTEM.SCI Current configuration information
SYSTEM1.SCI Previous configuration information
SYSTEM2.SCI Previous configuration information (oldest)
SYSTEM.CHL Textual representation of SYSTEM.SCI file
SYSTEM1.CHL Textual representation of SYSTEM1.SCI file
SYSTEM2.CHL Textual representation of SYSTEM2.SCI file (oldest)
IMPORTANT: Insufficient disk space for the System Configuration History Log causes the
System Configuration Utility to delete log files, starting with the oldest files (SYSTEM2.SCI
and SYSTEM2.CHL). The System Configuration Utility continues to delete these files until
enough disk space is available for the current configuration backup and history files.
Restoring a System Configuration
To restore a system configuration, use the following procedure:
1. Insert the SmartStart CD in the CD-ROM drive and turn on the server.
2. Select the System Configuration option from the System Configuration
Utility menu.
3. Select the Configuration Backup option from the System Configuration
menu.
The System Configuration Utility then displays the available .SCI files
with the following commands:

Press F7 to choose the .SCI file you wish to restore from among
your available directories.
G
Press Esc to cancel the operation.
G
Press Enter to restore the configuration you have chosen.
