Configuring Computers Running on Linux

The procedure below describes how to configure a computer running on Linux operating
system to automatically obtain its IP address from a DHCP server. The DHCP server can
be the device's embedded DHCP server.
To configure a computer running Linux for dynamic IP addressing:
1.
Log in to the Linux computer as a super-user, by entering the following command:
su
2.
View the network devices and allocated IP addresses, by typing the following
command:
ifconfig
3.
At the prompt, type the following command:
pump -i <dev>
Where <dev> is the network device name.
4.
View the new allocated IP address, by typing the following command:
ifconfig
5.
Make sure that no firewall is active on the device (<dev>).
