2.7 Printer does not Operate

This section describes the possible trouble on inoperative printer and its causes, and their remedies.
Symptom
Printer does not turn on
Printer not Recognized by Computer
TROUBLE SHOOTING

Cause
Power cable is not plugged in to the
outlet. Or, something is wrong with the
power cable.
Problem on the power source (such as
unsteady electrical voltage)
Problem on Power Supply Board

Problem on Operation Panel Board

If none of the remedies above helps,
there is a problem on Power Supply
Board.
Connection cable is not plugged in. Or,
something is wrong with the connection
cable.
Computer specification does not meet
the requirements of connection cable.
Printer and computer not directly
connected
Printer driver installed incorrectly
Printer does not Operate
Check Item
Power cable plugged in firmly?
Power cable plugged in straight?
Multi-tapped power source?
Power Supply Board and Main Board connected properly?
(CN1)
Operation Panel Board (CN1) and Main Board (CN9)
connected properly?
Anything abnormal?
FFC damaged?
FFC terminal flipped?

Connection cable plugged in properly?
Connection cable damaged?
Connection cable twisted or have something on?
Check if the computer meets the cable specs below:
USB2.0 (High Speed USB)
Ethernet 10Base-T/100Base-TX
Other computers recognized?
Using a printer selector?
Using extension cord?
Using USB hub?
Product name for this printer listed in computer's printer
list?
Printing port set correctly?
Revision A
Remedy
Plug in the power cable firmly.
Replace the power cable.
Do not configure any multiple connection (octopus
wiring) from a single outlet. Try to use the wall
outlet directly.
Reconnect the connector.
Reconnect the connector.
Replace the FFC with trouble.
1. Replace AC inlet.
2. If the printer still does not recover, replace
Power Supply Board.
(See P.159)
Plug in the connection cable firmly.
Replace the connection cable.
Try different way of connecting.
Change the computer.
Connect computer and printer directly with one
cable.
If the product name is not listed, re-install the
printer driver.
Set the correct port (See the User's Manual for
details).
