Derating
Depending on the surrounding air temperature and the installation altitude, the rated current,
rated power and overvoltage range must be reduced.
This reduction is called "derating."
The derating effects the current limitation and the power limitation (see function diagram
6810).
Rated current
At installation altitudes above 2000 m, the rated current is reduced by 7.5% / 1000 m.
For surrounding air temperatures from 45 °C up to 60 °C, the rated current linearly
decreases down to 60 %.
For heat sink temperatures from 75 °C to 83 °C, the rated current linearly decreases down to
78 %.
The lower of the two values is effective.
Note
The response to heat sink temperature violation is parameterizable (p55102). Instead of or in
addition to the current reduction described here, reduction of the switching frequency of the
pulse width modulator can be selected.
