Precharging of the DC links
The DC-link capacitors on the input and output sides of the SINAMICS DCP are current-free
when switched off.
When the device is switched on, they must be charged up to the voltage of the DC link or the
battery voltage.
This is referred to as precharging.
NOTICE
Current peaks
Direct connection (without precharging) to the DC link or the battery causes high current
peaks and can destroy the device.
The precharging is controlled by the device. It is assumed that the appropriate switchgear
and precharging resistances are present in the system (not part of the scope of delivery),
and connected according to Image 6-3 Block diagram with connection suggestion (Page 40).
The parameters to be set can be seen in function diagram 6835 and are described in the
parameter list in the List Manual.
There are two types of precharging:
● Resistance precharging
● Precharging through "step-up"
This results in three precharging methods:
