The coils are bracketed onto the camshaft
covers; they are of the closed magnetic circuit
type, formed by a segment pack whose cen-
tral core, broken by a thin gap, carries both
windings.
The windings are located in a moulded plas-
tic container and encapsulated in an epoxy
resin and quartz compound w h i c h gives them
exceptional dielectric, mechanical and ther-
mal properties, as they can withstand high
temperatures. The vicinity of the primary to
the magnetic core reduces magnetic flow
losses, ensuring maximum connection to the
secondary.
