If the light continues to flash, stop
and turn the ignition off, wait at
least 10 seconds and then restart
the engine.
If the light still flashes, take the
vehicle in for service.
If an emission control system
malfunction is detected, the light
will shine steadily.
If the light stays on, you may be
able to correct the malfunction by
considering the following:
• If you have just refilled the tank
with fuel, make sure the fuel
cap is properly installed.
• If you have just driven through
a deep puddle which may have
caused the electrical system to
become wet, then this
condition may correct itself
when the electrical system dries
out.
• Make sure that you always use
high quality fuel.
If the engine misfires, runs
rough or stalls, try a different
brand of gasoline.
After a while, if the light does not
go off, take the vehicle in for
service.
