Instrumentation and Controls
• The system sensors or the rear
bumper are damaged.
Take the vehicle to the dealer
as soon as possible to have the
vehicle repaired.
• A bicycle or other object is
attached to the rear of the
vehicle.
• An object is hanging out of the
trunk.
• A tow bar is attached to the
vehicle.
• The system receives vibrations
from a large nearby vehicle or
from heavy equipment such as
a jackhammer.

If the system does not activate
because of a temporary condition,
the following message will appear
in the Driver Information Center
display:
• PARKING ASSIST OFF (parking
assist off)
This message will clear itself after a
short time.
If the system is still disabled after
conditions return to normal and
driving forward at a minimum
speed of 25 km/h, see your dealer
for service.
Ultrasonic Rear Parking
Assist (With Light Display)
If your vehicle is not equipped with
a light display above the rear
window, see "Ultrasonic Rear Park-
ing Assist (Without Light Display)"
earlier in this section.
The system's sensors, located on
the rear bumper, can detect
objects that are at least 25.4 cm
tall, below the rear window and
within a distance of about 2.5 m
from the vehicle.
