Checking the connecting rod small end

•
Measure the inside diameter of the
connecting rod small end using a spe-
cific micrometer.
NOTE
IF THE CONNECTING ROD SMALL END DIAMETER EX-
CEEDS THE MAXIMUM DIAMETER ALLOWED, SHOWS
SIGNS OF WEAR OR OVERHEATING, REPLACE THE
CRANKSHAFT AS DESCRIBED IN THE "CRANKCASE
AND CRANKSHAFT" CHAPTER.
Characteristic
Rod small end
Maximum diameter: 15.023 mm (0.591 in)
Standard diameter: 15.010 - 15.018 mm (0.5910 - 0.5912 in)

Fitting the piston

•
Install piston and pin onto the connect-
ing rod, aligning the piston arrow the
arrow facing towards the exhaust.
•
Fit the retainer ring.
