Never run the engine in an enclosed area. If you do work in an enclosed area, make sure to use a fume extraction system.

    RS4 125 Characteristics • If any signs of dirt, rust, moisture, etc. are noted, clean the inside of the connector carefully with a jet of compressed air. • Ensure that the cables are correctly fastened to the internal connector terminals.

    Correct maintenance is fundamental for ensuring the longevity of your vehicle and maintaining optimum function and performance. To this end, Aprilia offers a set of checks and maintenance services (at the owner's expense), that are summarised in the table shown on the following page. Any minor faults must be reported without delay to an Authorised Aprilia Dealer or Sub-Dealer without waiting until the next scheduled service to solve it.

    RS4 125 Maintenance Engine oil Check Check the engine oil level frequently. NOTE CARRY OUT MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS AT HALF THE INTERVALS SPECIFIED IF THE VEHICLE IS USED IN PAR- TICULAR RAINY OR DUSTY CONDITIONS, OFF ROAD OR FOR TRACK USE.

    RS4 125 Maintenance • Otherwise, top-up until the indicated level. Fill with engine oil as required: • Unscrew and remove the cap (1). When using a funnel or any other element, make sure it is perfectly clean. DO NOT ADD ADDITIVES OR OTHER SUBSTANCES TO THE OIL.

    RS4 125 Maintenance • Drain the oil into the container; allow several minutes for oil to drain out com- pletely. • Remove any metal scrap attached to the drainage plug (2) magnet. • Check and, if necessary, replace the drainage plug (2) sealing washer.

    RS4 125 Maintenance • Unscrew and remove the oil filter plug. • Remove the spring and oil filter. Gearbox Oil Air filter • Remove the passenger saddle and collect the supporting rod of the fuel tank. • Lift the fuel tank and fasten it with the supporting rod.

    RS4 125 Maintenance • Lower the tank, unscrew and remove the two screws (2) collecting the nuts underneath. • Operating on the rear area of the tank, lift the filter box cover (3) and sliding it together with the filtering element (4), making it slide upwards and back- wards.
  • Page 57 WHEN CARRYING OUT MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS, IT IS ADVISABLE TO WEAR LATEX GLOVES. TAKE YOUR SCOOTER TO AN OFFICIAL aprilia DEALER TO HAVE COOLANT CHANGED. Coolant solution is 50% water and 50% antifreeze fluid. This is the ideal mixture for most operating temperatures and provides good corrosion protection.

    IF THERE IS AN EXCESSIVE CONSUMPTION OF COOLANT OR WHEN THE EXPANSION TANK REMAINS EMPTY, CHECK THAT THERE ARE NO LEAKS IN THE CIRCUIT. NOTE FOR REPAIRS, CONTACT AN aprilia official Dealer. Once the check is performed, if necessary top up the cooling liquid; proceed as follow: •...

IF THE MOISTURE CONTENT IN THE BRAKE FLUID EXCEEDS A CERTAIN VALUE, WATER VA- POUR BUBBLES MAY FORM IN THE CIRCUIT, OR THE PUMP AND CALLIPERS MAY SEIZE, CAUSING THE BRAKES THEMSELVES TO SEIZE.
