Setting the communications parameters
SET COM OPTICAL

1 Speed
: Shifts to the speed setting screen where you may select the transmis-
sion speed: 300, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400* bps, or High
Speed.**
(*38400 bps is available only when the direct-connect interface port has
been selected.)
(**The "High Speed" is available only in Transfer Utility, provided that
the RS-232C interface cable is specially connected. Refer to Chapter 3,
Subsection 3.1.2.)
2 Data
: Shifts to the character length setting screen where you may select 7 or
8 bits.
3 Parity
: Shifts to the parity setting screen where you may select none, even, or
odd parity.
4 Stop bit : Shifts to the stop bit setting screen where you may select 1 or 2 bits.
5 Protocol : Shifts to the protocol setting screen where you may set the following:
- Serial On/Off:
- Parity On/Off:
- RS/CS Control On/Off:
Select a desired item by using the numerical keys and press ENT key to shift to the
corresponding setting screen.
To return to the previous screen, press C key.

Selecting "Optical" or "Connector" on the
SET COM ENVIRONMENT menu displays the
corresponding screen shown at left. The
selected interface port (OPTICAL or CON-
NECTOR) is shown on the 2nd line of the
LCD.
Selects whether or not the system should
add serial numbers to data blocks.
Selects whether or not the system should
add a horizontal parity.
Selects whether or not the system should
control the RS/CS signal.
