7.2 Interface connections

7.2.1 Data line protection

A further feature of the ZINTO A is the data line protection.
Special circuits eliminate interference on a telephone, modem,
fax or network and in this way prevent damage to the equip-
ment.
The incoming data line is connected to the RJ45 socket on the
rear of the UPS labelled "IN". The socket labelled "OUT" is
connected to the related piece of equipment.
No further installation steps are necessary.

7.2.2 Communication interfaces

The ZINTO A series has a DB9 socket and a USB socket on
the rear of the UPS system. All models from 1.5kVA have an
additional slot for optional interface cards. Computers can be
connected to all the cards.
The DB9 socket supports communication using the RS-232
protocol as well as the indication of operating states using
floating contacts.
These connections make it possible
• To monitor the UPS system.
• To monitor the input voltage.
• To automatically save data.
• To shutdown the computer in a controlled manner.
• To shutdown the UPS system is a controlled manner.
These functions are supported by the DataWatch software,
which is included in the items supplied.
