Lower the feed dog.
Lift up the presser foot lever, and then slide the drop feed
lever at the back of the machine to

* If it is difficult to switch the drop feed lever, lower the needle,
and then try again.

Connect the foot controller.
The foot controller adjusts the stitch width during OEKAKI (free-motion embroidering).
* In OEKAKI mode, the sewing machine will not operate if the foot controller is not plugged in. If the start/stop button is
pressed, instead of starting the sewing machine, error code "F9" appears.
Be sure to use the main power switch to turn off the sewing machine before
connecting the foot controller.
Not doing so could cause injuries.
Tip
<Notes on the stitch width>
Lightly stepping on the foot controller selects a narrow stitch width; stepping further on the foot controller selects
a wider stitch width. Slightly releasing the foot controller selects a narrower stitch width.
