Hardware Descriptions
This fully featured, self-contained system is connected directly to the data bus and communi-
cates with the system processor. This design means that installation time is minimised, op-
eration is streamlined and many features can be implemented that are not normally possible
with older, conventional, stand-alone Voice Mail/Auto Attendant systems.
All power to run the system comes from the power supply. Each power supply is rated ac-
cording to the number of stations it will support. When SVMi-8 is installed, it counts as eight
(8) stations of the PSU rating regardless of the number of Voice Processing Modules in-
stalled.
4WLI
The 4WLI card provides a cable interface between the OfficeServ 100 system and a COMBO
type Wireless LAN (WLAN) Base Station (WBS24), which is the access point for a WLAN.
The cable interface is a digital system, using the 2B+1D Quad Digital Adaptor Subscriber
Loops (QDASL) interface. One 4WLI is installed in the basic cabinet universal slot 3 and can
support up to four WBS24s (see table, below). Since two DASL lines are connected to one
WBS24, 2x(2B+1D) 4 voice channel simultaneous calls are supported.
Each WBS24 installed counts as four stations of the PSU rating. Therefore, when the 4WLI
card is supporting the maximum of four WBS24s, it counts as 16 stations.
In summary, the 4WLI card:
provides cable interface (voice and signalling data) between the Access Point (WBS24)
and the OfficeServ system;
performs initialization to service VoIP over the WLAN;
manages information on all voice terminals and provides service for authorised terminals;
supports mobility and handover between Access Points for voice terminals.
