GENERAL
The central locking system uses electrical locking drives at
all four doors , the gas filler door, and the trunk lid (or tailgate) .
The locking system can be actuated by either front door lock
or by the trunk lid lock. When the key is in the lock position, a
micro-switch engages the central locking system via the gen-
eral modul e. The gene ral module is mounted beneath the rear
seat.
Three microswitches are operated via the door lock cylinder
at both front doors. Tu rning the key approximately 45 0 oper-
ates the door locking microswitch. Turn ing the key approxi-
mately 90 0 actuates the double locking microswitch. Turning
the key app roximately 45° in the opposite direction from posi-
tion · 0· actuat es the unlocking microswitch and deactivates
the alarm system .

NOTE-
If just one of the central locking drives does not oper-
ate. the locking linkage could be frozen or stiff enough
to prevent actuation of the drive. Remove the interior
door panel and lubricate the locking linkage.
NOTE-
Check ,hat door catch buttons cannot be pulled up
manually and that the alarm system is armed.
6. Check that fuel filler flap and trunk lid are locked.
7. Using ignition key, unlock all doors.
8. Lock doors and wait at least 35 seconds.

9. Lift door hand le and hold for at least 5 seconds.
1. Turn ignition on.
10. Check heating of lock with your finger on the keyhole.
2. Lower all windows.
3. Ope n sunroof fully.
4. Turn ignition off.
NOTE-
Door locks will be heated for 40 seconds. It can be
switch ed on aga in afterwards by lifting the door handle.
The heating function can only be activated three times
within 40 minu tes. Door lock hea ting can only be acti-
vated from the driver's door lock.
5. With ignition key in door lock cylinde r, turn door lock to
position 3 to double lock doors, trunk lid and fuel filler
flap. (A loud click will be heard twice.) See Fig. 1.
