INTERIOR TRIM
Glove box, removing and installing
1. Open glove box and disconnect support straps from left
and right sides of glove box. See Fig. 11 .

2. Working from underneath glove box, unlock left and right
pivot clamps from left and right corners of glove box.
3. Lift out glove box.
4. Installation is reverse of removal. Close glove box and
adjust fit before closing pivot clamps .
Lower instrument panel trim, removing and
installing
1. On cars with SRS airbag , disconnect negative (-) cable
from battery and cover battery terminal wi1h insulating
material. Disconnect orange SRS connector on steer-
ing column as described in 721 Airbag System (SRS).
WARN/NG -
SRS is complex and dangerous. Special precautions
must be observed when servicing cars equipped with
SRS. Serious injury may result i/ system service is
sttempteti by persons un/amiliar with the BMW SRS
and its approved service procedures.
2. On cars with SRS airbaq , remove trim covers from left
and right side of steering column and remove screws
from behind covers. See Fig. t2.
3. On cars without SRS airbaq , remove screw conceal ing
caps and remove screws securing lower instrument
panel trim.
4. Lower and then lift off lower instrument panel trim.
5. Installation is reverse of removal.

Pedal cluster trim panel,
removing and installing
The pedal cluster trim panel is mounted above the pedal
cluster and behind the lower instrument panel trim.
1. Remove carpeted trim panellrom driver's side 01 cen-
ter conso le.
2. Remove pedal cluster trim panel mounting screw and
retainers. See Fig. 13.

3. Partially pull trim panel down and disconnect harness
connectors from chime module .
4. Unhook trim panel from center console at right side and
remove.
5. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure venti-
lation duct work is properly connected when installing
the panel into position.
