REAR SUSPENSION
2. Load the trunk with the weight specified below.

WARNING -
Only run the car in

4. Using the ride height specifications given earlier under
Ride Height, move the LAD regulator valve lever for-
ward or rearward until the height is correct. Then lock
the lever in the center position by inserting a small (' /
6
in.) drill bit through the lever and into the valve body.
See Fig. 18.
3. Working beneath the rear of the car, disco nnect the
control link from the regulator valve lever. Start the en-
gine.
LAD ri de height load requirements
• Weight placed over rear axle to
check or adjust ride level height
sedan models 200 kg (440 Ib)
touring models 280 kg (616 Ib)
CAUTlON -
If the lever is pushed rearward past the cen ter
po-
sitton once Ihe correct level is reached. repear the
adjusting procedures
NOTE -
Moving the lever forward raises the car. Moving Ihe le-
ver rearward lowers the car. When the lever is in the
center position. the ride height is maintained.

If
necessary. loosen the locknuts and adjust the control
link length so that the link end fits correctly into the le-
ver. Tighten the lock nuts.
6. Using a new self-locking nut. install the link and then re-
move the drill bit.
To fill and bleed LAD system
1. With the engine
ott.
fill the power steering/LAD fluid
reservoir until the fluid level is approximately 25 mm
(1 in.) below the reserv oir rim .
LAD Hydrau lic Fluid
• Pentosin'" CHF 7.1 hydraulic fluid or equivalent
2. Start the engine. Turn the steering wheel from lock to
lock two times. Turn the engine

Tightening Torque
• Control link to LAD regulator valve lever
(sell-locking nut) 9 Nm (80 in-Ib)
7. Remove the load from the trunk and allow the system
to sell -adjust the ride height. Reload the car. wait a few
minutes. and then check that the ride height is correcl.
3. Raise the rear of the car until the drive wheels are ott
the ground. Wait about two minutes and check the fluid
level. The fluid level should be no more than 25 mm
(1
in.) above the base of the reservoir screen . Correct the
fluid level as necessary.
