Never drive the truck with the parking brake set as this may
overheat the rear brakes, reducing their effectiveness and causing
excessive wear or damage.
NOTICE: The parking brake should be set first whenever leaving the
driver's seat. If the vehicle is parked on a grade an.d the transmission
selector lever is placed in "PARK" before the parking brake is set, the
weight of the vehicle may exert so much force on the parking pawl in
the transmission that it may be difficult to pull selector lever out of
"PARK". This condition is called "torque lock." To prevent this, the
parking brake
"PARK." When preparing to move the vehicle, the selector lever should
be moved out of the "PARK" position BEFORE releasing the parking
brake. It is good driving practice to set the parking brake first, then
release the transmission from "PARK", even on level surfaces. If
"torque lock" does occur, it may be necessary to have another vehicle
nudge this vehicle uphill to take some of the pressure off the
transmission while the driver pulls on the transmission selector lever.
H EADLIG H T BEAM CHANGER
"High" and "Low" headlight beams are controlled by the floor button
at your left foot. The indicator lamp located to the left of the
speedometer will light up when the high beams are in use.

INSTRUMENTS
The instruments, gages and indicator lights conveniently grouped in
the instrument cluster are designed to tell you at a glance many
important things about the performance of your vehicle. The following
information will enable you to more quickly understand and properly
interpret these instruments.
Speedometer
The speedometer hand indicates vehicle speed in miles per hour and
kilometres per hour.
Odometer
The group of six figures in the speedometer lower center section
indicates the accumulated mileage.

Fuel Gage

The fuel gage will register the APPROXIMATE fuel level in the tank,
when the ignition is in the ON position.
When the gage registers EMPTY, some fuel is still available as a
When
reserve.
the gage registers FULL, some additional fuel can still
be added to the tank. The following conditions may be considered
normal:
Gas station pump may shut off before fuel gage indicates FULL.
Amount of gasoline required for fill-up may not exactly
correspond to gage.
