3. Fault Isolation Procedure for Fax
Because a fax machine is composed of multiple blocks, pinpointing a fault is problematic.
This section describes a quick fault isolation procedure.
3.1 Fault Occurs
First, try using the copy function. If satisfactory prints are obtained via the copy function, it is not likely
that the fax itself is faulty. The fault is likely in the telephone line or the terminal at the other end. If the
fault is in the telephone line, first retry sending. If there is no improvement, contact the telephone
company. If the prints obtained via the copy function have problems, the next step is to determine
whether the fault is in the scanner or printer by operating each unit separately via a computer.
